FAQ

Where is the Traverse City Comedy Club located?

738 South Garfield Avenue in Traverse City.  We are on the west side of South Garfield between Comfort Center and the Express Auto Wash.  In other direction news, we are on South Garfield between Hannah Avenue and Centre Avenue.

How do I purchase tickets for a specific show?

You can pre-purchase tickets online. If you are having issues, call our box office at 231-421.1880.  Please note that our box office is only sporadically staffed.  If you have a question, please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Are there any age restrictions?

You are required to be 21 years or older to purchase or consume alcoholic beverages on the property.  Persons 18 years or older may purchase tickets to a show, eat, and drink non-alcoholic beverages at the club.  We admit persons who are 16 or 17 years or older with a parent.  Age restrictions do not speak to the suitability of the content of a show for any person.

Should I research the comedian before attending a show?

Yes.  Comedy is subjective and certain comedians are not for everybody.  Watching a YouTube clip or reading the headliner’s biography is a great way to get insight on the expected performance.

What is the difference between Reserved and General Admission seating?

Reserved seats are pre-assigned for you at the time of purchase.  General Admission seating is available on a first-come, first-sat basis.  The earlier you arrive, the better your seats will be.   Some shows may have both reserved and general admissions seating.  In those cases, the reserved seating generally is closer to the stage.  Ticket purchasers who arrive on time are guaranteed seating.

What time should I arrive?

The comedy club will open for seating 60 minutes before showtime.  We serve food and drink at our shows so grab a seat and relax while waiting for the laughs to begin.

Please Note:  All tickets are subject to expire at showtime.  If you are running late or think you will arrive later than showtime, please call the box office to let us know.  We reserve the right not to seat any party that arrives after the show has begun.

How long does a performance last?

Because a performer’s set will vary in length from performer to performer (and from night to night), we cannot answer this question with accuracy.  Most shows will range from approximately 75 minutes to 105 minutes in length.

Do you serve food and drinks?

Yes.  And yes.  Check out our menus here?

Is there a food or drink minimum?

Currently, no.  However, understand that the tickets that you purchase support the performers.  It is the food and drink that you purchase that supports the club and its employees.  In order for the Traverse City Comedy Club to survive, we need you to spend money in the club.  The club accepts donations here.

How can I ensure that my party is seated together?

General admission is first-come, first-seated as you enter the showroom, so seating preference cannot be guaranteed. However, general admission ticket holders who arrive at least 45 minutes before showtime and enter the showroom together have the best chance of being seated as a group.

Reserved ticket holders who purchase tickets as a group will be automatically assigned seating together.

Are cameras allowed in the club?

Patrons may take personal photographs BEFORE or AFTER the show. Taking pictures and videotaping shows during the show without the club’s and the artist’s written consent is strictly prohibited.

Can I talk during the show?

We have a strict policy of no heckling/talking while the acts are on stage.  This is disruptive to audience members surrounding you and also to the comedians on stage.  Remember, people have paid to listen to the acts, not you.  Anybody repeatedly talking/heckling/shouting out will be asked to leave immediately without refund.

How do you feel about drunk and disruptive people?

Yes, we love people having a good time.  However, anybody deemed too intoxicated may be refused entry without refund at our discretion so please bear this in mind when attending our shows. The reason for this is from experience these are the people who are more likely to cause disruption during the comedy show and ruin it for everybody else.

How do you feel about cell phones?

Please ensure all mobile phones are on silent.  If your phone goes off during the show the comedian will likely take it off you and make a few extra calls.  If you need to take a call during the show then please go outside to not disrupt the other guests.
